As an alternative to Legal Sea Foods, only a few yards down on Rt. 9, Skipjack’s is a welcome change. Although the pricing at Skipjack’s is a bit higher than Legal’s, the menu is a bit more diverse and the restaurant a bit less crowded on weekend nights. The waitstaff is attentive and well prepared to answer questions about the menu. At times, the waitstaff does need a bit of help on their wine knowledge and ability to remove a cork but nonetheless, they are courteous and try hard. (serving red wine in a wine chiller is really not how I like it)

The seafood is fresh and available in a variety of different ways with different sauces, grilled or broiled, fried, or within one of the signature dishes with BBQ sauce or a variety of other different spice combinations.

The wine list is quite good; although not as extensive as other lists in the area, it offers a good selection of white and red. The bar staff is very knowledgeable and attentive. If you’re looking for a quiet place to watch a ball game on a weeknight, I’d suggest grabbing a bar stool, some sushi and a good bottle of wine.

If you go before 6pm on a weekday, they have a fresh fish entree special for only $12.95 which is a pretty good deal considering how fresh it is. Salad or soup is included in the price.

Be sure to join their frequent dining club even if you only plan on going once or twice a year since the meals are on the pricey side, you can add up free dollars to spend later quite quickly.
